Saddle up your horse and walk, trot or canter along one of the many wooded equestrian trails in the county.
The following list of bridle paths within Fairfax County are currently available for public use. Many of these trails are not well marked and become overgrown at intervals, particularily during late spring and summer. Some areas may not be suitable for riding during wet weather. While searching for public trails, please respect the rights of property owners and other trail users you may encounter.
Equestrian use is prohibited in the vicinity of all Fairfax County Park Authority playing fields, picnic areas, concession stands, recreation buildings and other facilities not specified for equestrian use.
The Frying Pan Farm Park offers a multi-faceted equestrian center located in Herndon Virginia. The center holds a variety of events, as well as stabling and schooling options. Whether you're looking to bring your horse to a new place to school for the day, compete in one of our rated shows or a facility to hold your next show, Frying Pan Farm Park Equestrian Center provides an exceptional experience.
The Turner Farm in Great Falls, Virginia includes almost 40 acres of open fields enclosed by perimeter fencing and is open for general riding. Use of the equestrian facilities is free, and reservations are not required. The facilities are available from dawn to dusk daily. Turner Farm Park does not have horses for rent; you need to bring your own.
The Park Authority does not rent out horses.
