Facility Updates
- Stratford Landing Park: The tennis courts will be closed beginning April 13 for installation of new fencing. The courts are expected to reopen by April 17.
- Huntley Meadows Park: The restrooms at the Visitor Center are closed due to pipe issues. Portable toilets are available in the parking lot.
- Sully Historic Site
- The outdoor bathrooms at Sully Historic Site are closed for repairs. Bathrooms in the Visitor Center are available 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Sunday. Please call the site directly (703-437-1794) for the updated status before visiting.
- The garden at Sully Historic Site is closed to visitors on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 for maintenance. The garden will reopen on Saturday, April 4.
- Middle Run Stream Valley Park: Cleanup is underway for a sanitary sewer overflow. Please follow all posted signage and keep out of closed areas.
- Green Spring Gardens: The ADA lift at the Historic House is currently out of operation until further notice. ADA access remains available to the lower room of the Historic House.
- Frying Pan Farm Park: The carousel sustained irreparable damage during the January 2026 winter storm and will be removed from the park.
- Mount Vernon Rec Center: The fitness center is experiencing fluctuating temperatures due to a mechanical issue. A repair part has been ordered. Please be prepared with layers and stay hydrated during your workout. Thank you for your understanding!
- Providence Rec Center: The Rec Center will be closed Monday, March 23 through Sunday, April 5 while several building maintenance projects and improvements are being conducted. Patrons are invited to use any other Park Authority Rec Center during the closure. Learn more about the work being done at the facility.
- Franconia Rec Center:
- The spa is currently closed for repair.
- The playground near the rec center/tennis courts is closed due to the weather damage to the canopy
- Willow Woods Park: The Willow Woods Park bridge behind Canterbury Woods Elementary is closed until further notice. The trail bridge on the asphalt trail in Willow Woods Park connecting the end of Rosedale Lane and the school campus was severely damage by a fallen tree. Alternate pedestrian access from Rosedale Lane to Canterbury Woods Elementary School is along Ponderosa Drive and Nero Street sidewalks.
- Glenn Hills Park: The Playground at Glenn Hills Park is closed until further notice.
- Sully Historic Site: Restoration and repair work is underway on Sully’s historic outbuildings. While the site remains open, access to certain buildings may be limited at times. For the most up-to-date information, please call 703-437-1794.
- Scott’s Run Nature Preserve: Beginning on Monday, Feb. 16, Scott's Run will be closed for an urgent sewer project to renew and rehabilitate the Scott's Run Siphon wastewater facility. The work is expected to take approximately three months to complete, depending on weather conditions. Updates regarding project progress and any changes to the timeline will be available online at the Scott’s Run Siphon Rehabilitation project webpage.
- Bull Neck Stream Valley: A section of the trail in the Bull Neck Stream Valley, located behind 1223 and 1225 Duchess Drive, Mclean, VA 22102, has been closed due to safety concerns. We welcome you to use the Trail Buddy app to identify an alternative route.
- Reston North Park: The playground at Reston Park is closed for ongoing renovations to replace aging equipment and improve accessibility. Due to weather delays, construction is now expected to conclude by the end of February. During construction, the parking lot will also be used for construction vehicles and materials. Please follow all posted signs.
- Pimmit Hill Park: The bridge at Pimmit Hill Park at the end of Storm Dr. will remain closed until further notice for repairs.
- Pimmit Run: Construction for the Pimmit Run Trunk Sewer Improvement project is set to begin on or shortly after Oct. 20, 2025, and is anticipated to be completed by Sept. 5, 2026. This critical infrastructure upgrade will enhance sanitary sewer capacity to support future development. Portions of the trails/walking paths along Pimmit Run will be closed for public use during construction as required to maintain the safety of the work area. Please follow all posted signage.
