Description: Under the supervision of a Childcare Specialist III, providing supervision of children under their care.  Assists in supervising the safety and well-being of the children. Monitors classroom and outdoor playground materials and equipment using establish safety checklists.  Engages children in age-appropriate experience.  Develops age-appropriate experiential curriculum and adjusts the environment according to the children’s individual needs. Promotes an inclusive setting for all children. Follows all procedures for the prevention of health hazards and ensures the safety of children, performs developmental screening and assessments, assists in the preparation of documentation for local agency, state licensing and federal Head Start performance standards. Interacts with county staff, citizens and members of the childcare community. Works as a cooperative member of a team.  Provides feedback to supervisors on program goals and participates in problem solving.  Performs lead duties in the absence of Childcare Specialist III.   Actively participates in all training.  Supports Head Start philosophy and performance standards. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a Child Development associate in early childhood education (CDA-infant and toddler) or course work in early childhood, or a related field plus one year of related work experience.

Special Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry and a tuberculosis (TB). Must be able to move quickly in order to respond to situations. You must be able to lift to 35 pounds.

Work Schedule: This position is scheduled to work an average of 17.3 hours per week – 52 weeks per year not to exceed 900 hours per calendar year.  Hours are generally within the core county business hours of 8:00am-4:30pm with the opportunity for work in the evenings and weekends.

Infant and Toddler Connection (ITC) is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired with experience working with families, infants, and toddlers, or working with children with special needs. This position is endorsed by the Virginia Department of Education.

Description: This position provides essential, federally mandated services entitled for eligible children under Part C of IDEA.   As part of a multidisciplinary team of early intervention providers and case managers, the Teacher of the Visually Impaired is responsible for screening, evaluating, assessing, and developing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) for infants, toddlers, and their families for Part C services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Teacher of the Visually Impaired will also be responsible for implementing individualized services using natural learning environment practices.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling, education, or a related field, plus three years of early

Licensing requirements: Educators licensed by the Virginia Board of Education with endorsement in one or more of the following areas: Special Education - Early Childhood (Birth to 5) –or- Early/Primary Education (Pre-K - 3) – or - Special Education - Hearing Impairments (Pre-K - 12) -or- Special Education - Visual Impairments (Pre-K - 12)- or-Adapted Curriculum (K-12) or General Curriculum (K-12),

The Older Adult, Adult and Youth Fitness Instructor (Evidence-Based) plays a critical role in delivering structured, research-supported wellness programs specifically designed for the multiple populations we serve within the region. We’re seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and reliable individual with a passion for promoting the wellness of older adults. This role focuses on promoting health and wellness through physical activity, and social connection using evidence-based formats that have been approved.

Description: Instructor will develop, instruct, facilitate, multiple classes for diverse participants focusing on adults aged 18-49, teens aged 15-18 and occasionally the older adults 50 + population. 

  • Experience in aerobic instruction, high impact aerobics with or without weights for adults looking to improve their health and wellbeing, Zumba, and yoga along with creating and facilitating aerobic classes for teens to help those who are just beginning their fitness journey.
  • Prepare and inspect personal and group equipment, before and after use.
  • Accurately document classes, organize class-related paperwork and incidents reports.
  • Maintain strong communication with staff, center director and participants.
  • Provides excellent customer service skills.
  • Other duties as assigned based upon agency and county needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Facilitate a welcoming environment that promotes safety, independence, and participation.
  • Demonstrates skills, knowledge and abilities in related areas of expertise
  • Exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and a commitment to participant safety.
  • At least two years of experience in specialty.
  • Ability to travel within the region to provide services/ classes/ subbing opportunities
  • Be comfortable with basic administrative tasks, including data tracking, scanning, and using digital tools.

  • Ability to train instructors to teach additional classes
  • Ability to teach more than one class
  • Experience working with multiple populations in an inclusive environment where activities/classes are able to be adapted for all to attend
  • Show ability to follow structured curricula and manage class logistics.
  • Lead engaging fitness classes that enhance physical health and social interaction.
  • Work collaboratively with County staff and utilize department resources for program success.

Certificates and Licenses:

Holds certification(s) with professional organizations in specific area of expertise/ has degree in a specified related field.

Responsibilities: Plans, prepares, and leads community center activities. Provides leadership and ensures the safety of all center participants. Assists in marketing of programs and outreach to the community. Works up to 17 hours a week and may not work more than 900 hours per calendar year. Must be available to work days, nights, and weekend schedules as needed to support program needs.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation or GED. Experience working with youth, teens, adults, seniors and/ or families. Must be 18 years of age; and 21 years of age for positions working with teens.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working with community recreational programs serving youth, teens, adults, seniors and/or families. Ability to drive a 14-passenger (non-CDL) bus. Bilingual in English and a second language.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate. At least 250 hours of experience in recreation or a school setting serving individuals with disabilities. College course work can supplement experience.

Preferred Qualifications: CPR/First Aid certification.
