It’s time to think summer! Registration for NCS summer camps kicks off Tuesday, March 11, 2025. The Department of Neighborhood and Community Services offers a variety of summer camp options for youth and teens throughout Fairfax County. Register early and secure your spot for a summer of fun activities, new friendships and lasting memories! NCS camps are offered from June 16 – August 15, 2025; registration start dates, program dates, eligibility and costs vary by camp/location. All programs offer reduced fee opportunities. Learn more and find the right camp for your child by exploring NCS’ camp options:    Camp Fairfax Select public schools and community centers across Fairfax County welcome rising first through seventh graders for a weekly summer camp. Campers enjoy exciting opportunities in outdoor adventures, performing arts, sports and recreation, visual arts, science, technology, engineering and math exploration and much more. This year, families from the Fairfax County Park Authority's Rec-PAC program will be welcomed into Camp Fairfax after a realignment of the two programs. Families are encouraged to sign up for SACC registration accounts and familiarize themselves with reduced fee opportunities before registration. Registration begins March 11. Teens in Action Teens in Action offers an engaging, healthy and free recreation program for youth ages 12 to 18 to learn, play and serve. Registration begins March 11.  Therapeutic Recreation Camps NCS’ Therapeutic Recreation offers affordable summer camp experiences for individuals (ages 5-22) with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or attention deficit disorders. Families are encouraged to sign up for TRACERS accounts and familiarize themselves with reduced fee opportunities before registration. Registration begins April 2. Sully Summer Sports Camps A partnership between NCS and FCPA offers affordable summer camps at Sully Community Center to families with a household income of less than $132,500. Eligible families will pay reduced rates for children to participate in popular Park Authority summer camps offered at Sully Community Center. Registration now open.  Culmore Summer Soccer Camp Young athletes ages 6-16 can continue to develop their skills and participate in a team setting at this free summer camp at Bailey’s Elementary School in Falls Church. Registration opens in spring.  Fairfax County 4-H Camp Fairfax County’s overnight 4-H camp is held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center for campers ages 9-13; high schoolers may also become counselors. The five-day, four-night camp is offered for one week in July. Registration now open.  Information on all NCS camps is also available at NCS Camps.

Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services, Faith Communities in Action, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church invite job-seekers to participate in the Empower & Elevate employment resource fair March 23, 2025. This is a great opportunity to make contact with potential employers and find job search resources, said Suzette Reynolds, NCS Interfaith Coordinator and the event's organizer. Employers will be available on-site. The event is ideal for anyone: Looking for employment. Seeking resources and tips for finding employment. Interested in becoming an entrepreneur. Seeking assistance with building your resume. Speakers include representatives from Fairfax County Government: Department of Human Resources Department of Family Services Employment and Training Neighborhood and Community Services Coordinated Services Planning Fairfax County Economic Development Authority The fair is from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Mt. This year’s theme was “Building on a Legacy.” Nelfred “Tllly” Blanding served as Mistress of Ceremony for a program that featured speakers, musical and dance entertainment, and more. Fairfax County Chief Equity Officer Toni Zollicoffer was the Keynote Speaker. Also presenting remarks were Katina Powers, senior manager at Cox, co-sponsor of the event; Rev. Trevor L. Black, pastor of Peace Baptist Church in Dunn Loring, VA; Jeffrey C. McKay, Chair, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors; Rodney Lusk, Franconia District Supervisor; and Bryan Hill, Fairfax County Executive. Elements of Surprise (R&B Group), Nikki Joy Brown (musical artist) and Myrna Kinney (musical artist), provided entertainment, along with Bennie Herron (poet), Ellis Hamilton (saxophonist), Westgate School Age Child Care’s The Lady Wolves Step Team; and The Zeta Tau Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. (step performance). The Board of Supervisors proclaimed February 2025 Black History Month in Fairfax County.
