How much do flu and COVID-19 vaccines cost at the Health Department?
- For those without private health insurance, the fee for a flu or COVID-19 vaccine is $25 for adults and $21.24 for children. For those with private health insurance, the fee for a flu vaccine is $30. COVID-19 vaccination is not available at the Health Department for those with private health insurance.
Do the flu and COVID-19 vaccines cost less if received at the Health Department?
- Not necessarily. Most health insurance plans cover flu and COVID-19 vaccines, so there is no out-of-pocket cost. If you have private health insurance, you are encouraged to get the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at an in-network provider.
Can the Health Department provide free flu or COVID-19 vaccines at community events?
- Since the COVID-19 vaccine is now commercially available, the Health Department no longer supports community vaccination events. Local pharmacies may be able to provide support for organizations that want to host a vaccination event for their employees or members. Contact a pharmacy or grocery store to ask about guidelines and requirements for these events. The Health Department also has information on which organizations can help. Please call 703-246-7100 if you need additional assistance.
When will the Health Department have the most updated flu and the COVID-19 available?
- The Health Department expects to have the flu vaccine by September 23, 2024, and the COVID-19 vaccine is expected in early October. You can make an appointment to get a vaccine once the supplies are in stock. Please check the Health Department’s website for vaccine updates.
