When we're busy with work or family matters, our homes can become messy. But how do we know when regular clutter turns into hoarding? Rachael Perrott and Joan Maguire from Fairfax County's Department of Code Compliance explain what hoarding is, and when and why it becomes a safety problem for both the hoarder and the community. Karen Hannigan from the Department of Family Services talks about the mindset of hoarding and how her agency and others can help people who struggle with this issue. Dr. Randall Lockwood from Fairfax County’s Hoarding Committee discusses the specific problem of animal hoarding.
