Collection and Disposal Industry Requirements and Rates
The county oversees certain aspects of the collection and disposal activities for: collectors with a Certificate to Operate, recycling companies, commercial pay companies, tire disposal companies and other permitted disposal companies. Collection Company with Certificate to Operate (CTO)
Activity
Collects waste and recyclables at least once per week. Trash is transported to county facilities for disposal.
Must secure a surety bond for each permitted vehicle. County maintains vehicle tare weights. Permits and CTOs must be renewed annually and vehicles must be inspected annually.
Recycling Company
Activity
Collects recyclables only and transports them to recycling processing facilities
Surety bond required for each permitted vehicle. Vehicles are weighed on commercial disposal scales and county can maintain vehicle tare weights (optional). Vehicle permits must be renewed annually. May also participate in Commercial Pay Program.
Commercial Pay Customer
Activity
Brings waste generated by their own business operations to county facilities for disposal
Requirements
Commercial Pay customers must identify the waste origin as business and not residential. Vehicles must obtain new tare weights annually.
Pay at point of service using credit card, cash, check
Notes
Not required to secure a surety bond. Vehicles are weighed on recycling and disposal center scales and county can maintain vehicle tare weights (optional).
