Overview: To lead safe and effective aqua exercise classes to participants.  Work involves responsibility for class design, planning, and conduct, as well as maintenance of fitness class equipment.

Duties Include:

• Designs, plans, and leads safe and effective aqua group exercise classes.
• Promotes and markets classes and programs to the general public.
• Adapts exercise prescription to the individual need of participants.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Sixteen years old or older.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current Aquatic Exercise Instructor certification.

Physical requirements:

• Stays up to date on Park Authority Rules and Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures, state and county laws, and other pertinent guidance.
• Note’s safety/security and maintenance concerns, addresses them where feasible, and reports to supervisor using appropriate methods and recordkeeping.
• Responds on behalf of the Park Authority in potential and actual emergency situations occurring on site while on duty.
• Completes special projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver’s license. 
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform general maintenance and custodial work. 
• Must be personable, punctual, dependable, and self-motivated.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Supervisory experience. 
• Extensive customer service experience. 
• Experience dealing effectively with emergencies and other difficult situations.

Position Title: Child Care Center Attendant

Hours: The Child Care Center is scheduled to be open on the below dates. Shifts will vary during the operational times.

Position Title: Assistant Manager (Seasonal)

Schedule: Part-time up to 30 hours per week. Work hours vary and will include opening and closing shifts that will include a balance of weekday, weekend, and holiday schedules, Manager on Duty shifts, Pool Service, and administrative hours.

Description: The Assistant Manager assists with operations and programming of the natatorium complex. Conducts inspections of natatorium facility and equipment and ensures facility compliance with all regulations. Directs or responds to emergency situations. Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates instructors, lifeguards, and front desk. Oversees staff coverage, customer service, pool operations and pool facility maintenance. Maintains records and prepares reports. Inventories and orders supplies.  Completes cash register ring-outs, safe counts and accounting paperwork. Coordinates with staff to process registrations, schedule classroom space, pool space and equipment. Enters Time and Payroll information into Countywide FOCUS system. Provides information for publications and promotional material. Operates Park Authority vehicles in order to pick up supplies. Primary role will be as Center Duty Manager. Must perform Lifeguard Chair Duty as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation or G.E.D, plus two years of related experience in a recreation center, aquatic facility and/or recreational park. 

Preferred Qualification: Experience working in aquatics, recreation, park management, or physical fitness. Two years working in an aquatic or fitness facility; one year of pool management; two years of pool operational work involving lifeguard training and supervision; supervising aquatic instructors; working with pool filtration systems and pool chemistry; recruiting pool staff and providing lifeguard and aquatic instruction.  Use of Microsoft Office, Fairfax County FOCUS System and rec dynamics software. Possession of Fairfax County Pool Operator Permit and Ellis Lifeguard Training License.

Hours: Schedule varies depending on class load and includes weekdays and weekends. Minimum of 3 class strings throughout the year to be eligible for hire.

Swim Instructors provide a special service to our customers, providing students of all ages and skill level various skill sets and competencies. We offer programs for parents and children as well as the dependent beginner to the advanced independent fitness swimmer. Orientation to our program is required; shadowing a tenured instructor is also required prior to teaching our programs.

As a swim instructor, you are responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Duties Include: 

• Ensure health and safety of guests by pool surveillance and enforcement of park policies
• Perform rescue and emergency care as needed (both in water and on land)

• Maintain water and rescue skills at a "test ready" level at all times
• Participate in regularly scheduled mandatory in-service trainings for a minimum of 4 hours per month

Minimum Qualifications:

• Successfully get out of the pool at the pool’s edge without using a ladder, steps or ramp;
• With exception to the 100 yard swim, skills must be performed without the use of goggles
• Must be 15 years old at the start of the certification course.

Overview: Swim instructors provide a special service to our customers, providing students of all ages and skill level various skill sets and competencies. We offer programs for parents and children as well as the dependent beginner to the advanced independent fitness swimmer.
