The Home Repair for the Elderly Program is designed to provide minor home repairs to eligible low and moderate income elderly homeowners residing in the property, as well as accessibility modifications for disabled homeowners. Fairfax County will provide a crew to do up to one week's labor and provide up to $1,000 in materials to complete necessary repairs and maintenance. Materials are paid for by County and Federal funds.
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a HUD workforce program administered by HCD. The goal of FSS is to assist residents to increase their earned income in order to decrease their reliance on housing subsidies. Because we recognize that true self-sufficiency means more than simply an increase in earned income, HCD’s program focuses on all of the barriers that are likely get in the way for our families, including education, training, budgeting, credit repair, savings, transportation, childcare and affordable health care.
