Park Volunteer Team (PVT) Program Guidelines
Want to be part of a team of volunteers who support a park or park program? Join other volunteers with a passion for parks on a Park Volunteer Team (PVT).
PVTs are volunteer-led teams that develop and execute their own ideas and plans in coordination with site plans and programs. PVTs can create park programs, provide park maintenance, or support other operational needs. They also create volunteer opportunities for county residents who love their parks. Each PVT has a leader or co-leaders who work with FCPA staff to identify volunteer opportunities. Each PVT will be listed online in the County’s Volunteer Management System, where volunteers can sign up to be part of the team.
Some PVTs coordinate fundraising with the Fairfax County Park Foundation. The Foundation transfers the funds to the Park Authority in a donation designated for a specific use in a specific program or park.
PVT volunteers are covered by the County’s Volunteer Insurance Policy as long as they abide by the guidelines of the Volunteer Program and its Standards of Conduct. The PVT Program also can be a steppingstone to a support organization such as a Friends Group.
Please see our PVT Handbook for more information.
