CCAR provides financial assistance for child care to families in Fairfax County, City of Fairfax and City of Falls Church with low to moderate incomes who are working, looking for work or are in education/training programs.
CCAR provides information about county child care programs and supports families in choosing care. Families can search for child care online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov Search: Early Childhood.
CEPS issues the County’s Home Child Care Permit and administers the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, which reimburses regulated family child care providers for the nutritious meals and snacks they serve. CEPS staff provide information, assistance and support to individuals interested in becoming Fairfax County-permitted family child care providers and offers ongoing technical assistance to support their home-based child care business. Through their Institute for Early Learning, CEPS offers workshops, webinars, and other professional learning opportunities to early childhood and school age child care educators in Fairfax County.
Provides quality early childhood education and comprehensive services to income eligible pregnant parents and families with children from birth to 5 years old.
School Readiness
School Readiness (Ready Region Capital Area) works in partnership with families, educators, and community organizations as well as partners across Virginia to support the school readiness of our youngest children. This is accomplished by strengthening the quality of early childhood programs by ensuring all components are in place for publicly funded programs to participate in the VQB5 quality measurement and improvement system. School Readiness also builds relationships and partners with leaders across the region to facilitate shared accountability and benefit towards establishing an equitable early childhood system.
Access and Family Partnership program
Access and Family Partnership program works with Ready Region Capital Area partners to strengthen family engagement and increase access to quality early childhood programs by supporting the work of the regional family council and overseeing publicly funded child care programs such as Mixed Delivery and the Virginia Preschool Initiative.
In Fairfax County, this program also leads the intentional and measurable county-wide strategy for ensuring that families inform the work of the Fairfax County Equitable School Readiness Strategic Plan, Birth to Eight (ESRSP) and ensures the early childhood system is equitable, accessible, and responsive to family and community needs and desires.
