DEPARTMENT OF CABLE AND CONSUMER SERVICES (DCCS)
Consumer Services
Consumer Services mediates consumer and tenant-landlord issues, conducts consumer educational outreach events, regulates taxi and towing industries; issue, licenses for certain business activities, and supports county and community meetings and events at the Fairfax County Government Center.
COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCTIONS DIVISION (CHANNEL 16)
The Communications Productions Division produces informational programs for citizens on Channel 16, the Fairfax County Government Channel, as well as the county’s internet site and county kiosks. The division also produces training programs for employees on the Fairfax County Training Network, an internal closed-circuit cable channel. Other services include emergency messaging for the county, video conferencing for county agencies, and a video arraignment system for the General District Court.
COMMUNICATIONS POLICY AND REGULATION DIVISION
The Communications Policy and Regulation Division manages the development of cable and its regulation in the county. The division oversees the county's non-exclusive cable television franchise agreements with Comcast of Virginia Inc., Cox Communications Northern Virginia, and Verizon Virginia Inc. through enforcement of the franchise agreements, inspection of the facilities, and attention to citizen concerns.
CITIZENS COMMISSIONS
The Board of Supervisors appoints Fairfax County citizens to the Consumer Protection Commission, Tenant-Landlord Commission and the Trespass Towing Advisory Board to work with county staff on key consumer issues.
