National Night Out Activities

Each year, on the first Tuesday in August, people across America gather in their own communities to take a stand against crime. The purpose of NNO is to:

  • Heighten crime and drug awareness
  • Generate support for anti-crime programs
  • Strengthen police-community partnerships
  • Send a clear message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

Herndon Senior Center from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The Herndon Senior Center in conjunction with the Herndon Harbor House and the Dumbarton Oaks community will celebrate National Night Out with food, fun, and activities for all ages, while honoring the community's safety officers. The event will be held from 4- 6:30 p.m. at the Herndon Senior Center, 873 Grace Street, Herndon in the Ballrooms. For more information, please call 703-464-6200, TTY 711.

Gum Springs Community Center a 7:30 p.m.

The Gum Springs Community Center, 8100 Fordson Road in Alexandria, Va. willl be holding their annual National Night Out program. The community is invited to come out and stand up again crime.  There willl be a talend show, music, and food.  If you would like to be part of the talent show, call 703-360-6088, TTY 711. Remember, community safety is everyone in this community's responsibility and together we're the answer!" Everything is free.

Southgate Community Center from 5 to 7 p.m.

Southgate Community Center invites you, your family and friends to enjoy an ice cream social and to meet your neighbors at 12125 Pinecrest Road in Reston, Va.from 5-7 p.m.. All activities are free. For more information, please call 703-860-0676, TTY 711.

Fairfax County Government Center from Noon to 2 p.m.

The Police Department invites county employees to be part of the annual National Night Out Team. The kickoff will be Tuesday, August 5 from noon-2 p.m. Government Center Forum.  Police Chief Col. David Rohrer will be there to answer questions.  Special displays and light refreshments will be availalbe.  For more information, contact individuals district stations crime prevention officers.
