News and Information

The 25th Annual National Night Out (NNO), a unique crime and drug prevention event, has been scheduled on August 5, 2008. We invite you, your family, and friends to take part in the NNO activities, which will be held throughout the county.

Senior Olympics
Northern Virginia Senior Olympics begins September 20, 2008, and continues through October 2. Registration fee is $10, which includes one event; additional events are $1 each. Deadline to register is Sept. 5. Senior adults age 50 and over who live in one of the sponsoring  jurisdictions are eligible to participate. This year, Senior Olympics will add four new events to the 2008 competition. The new events are ice skating, racquetball, Scrabble™ and diving. Over 25 events will take place at various locations in Northern Virginia.

The Culmore Soccer Camp

The Culmore Soccer Camp is free and for youth ages 6 through 15.The soccer camp's hours of operation are Monday through Friday, June 18 - August 8, 2008, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Bailey's Elementary School, 6111 Knollwood Drive, Falls Church 22041. Public Comment Sought on Proposed Changes to Field and Gym Allocation Policies

Adults and Children Together (ACT) Against Violence, sponsored by CRS, the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board, and Fairfax County Office of Gang Prevention, is seeking organizations to train and implement the new violence prevention project ACT. The focus of ACT is on adults who raise, care for, and teach children ages 0-8. ACT is designed to raise parent/adult awareness about ways to protect children and youth from violence by improving parenting skills. The 60th Annual 4-H Fair and Frying Pan Park Show will be held on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Frying Pan Park in Herndon. “Going Green” will be this year’s fair theme.
