Park Authority to Hold Second Meeting on Birge-Fadoul Property Acquisition

Birge-Fadoul properties

9/24/08 Public Hearing Presentation

The Fairfax County Park Authority will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. regarding the proposed acquisition of property in the Dranesville District. The property consists of approximately two acres of land referred to as the Birge-Fadoul properties. These properties are located near the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Dolley Madison Boulevard in McLean, VA. The addresses of the properties are 1300, 1308, 1312 and 1316 Ingleside Avenue (Tax Map Nos. 30-2 ((1)) Parcels 1A, 5, 6, 7 and 8). The properties are surrounded on three sides by McLean Central Park.

The acquisition of these parcels would provide an addition to McLean Central Park. While the actual use of the properties would be determined through the Park Authority’s public master planning process, this acquisition may permit the construction of additional park amenities within McLean Central Park such as expansion of the village green and improved access to existing park features. The acquisition would also increase the protected buffer for Dead Run, preventing potentially intensive redevelopment of those parcels in close proximity to park activities.

The public meeting will be held at the McLean Community Center; Park Authority staff members will provide a brief presentation. Written comments on the acquisition will be received by the Park Authority until October 24, 2008. Written comments will be accepted via email or by sending comments to David R. Bowden, director of Planning and Development Division, Fairfax County Park Authority, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Suite 406, Fairfax, VA 22035. For more information contact Kay Rutledge, Manager of Land Acquisition at 703-324-8708.
