New Member of the Park Authority Board NamedMarie Reinsdorf is the newest at-large member of the Fairfax County Park Authority Board, recently named to that post by Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerry Connolly. Reinsdorf, a Falls Church resident and well-known community activist, will complete the term of Park Board Member Georgette Kohler who recently passed away. Reinsdorf’s appointment began April 28, 2008 and continues until December 2011. Reinsdorf has been a resident of Fairfax County since 2002. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maryland. She has more than 25 years of experience in computers, specializing in the legal field, planning and implementing computer and document evidence classification systems used to support large-scale document review projects. She currently works part-time for the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington D.C. She also works as a seasonal assistant at Faucher Meadows in Great Falls, and worked for the Alice Ferguson Foundation organizing programs for its Potomac Watershed Trash-Free Initiative. Reinsdorf is very active in the community and was appointed to the Fairfax County Public School Board Transportation Task Force. She was also a member of the Mason District Area Plan Review Task Force in 2005-2006. Other leadership positions include service as president of the Bel Air Civic Association, board membership in the arts organization Creative Cauldron, officer, Fall Church High School PTSA 2005-2007, and diocesan coordinator for Episcopal Relief and Development, Episcopal Diocese of Washington, 2006-2007. Other affiliations and volunteer efforts include service on the SLEEP Advisory Council, the Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary Club, mentoring with Fairfax Division of Child Protective Services and working on the character education committee at Falls Church High School. The Fairfax County Park Authority Board is appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. These 12 appointees are comprised of one representative from each of the nine magisterial districts, plus three at-large members. The board sets policy and establishes priorities for the park agency.
