Carpooling

Carpooling Image

Carpooling is the simplest, least expensive, and most common "ridesharing" arrangement.

Carpooling reduces the total number of commute trips made because each passenger (in addition to the driver) represents one less vehicle trip. Carpooling variations also mirror the diversity of participants: One person may drive all the time, while the passengers contribute only to the cost (e.g., gas and parking). Participants may alternate driving and not exchange money. The carpool driver may pick up passengers at their homes, or they may meet at central location. Collectively, the carpool participants make up the rules and schedule.

More often than not employees at a company live near at least one other co-worker, as well as employees from a nearby employer that share the same work hours. If you are not currently aware of any surrounding employees living near you find out by using one of the following ride-matching databases.

Commuter Connections is offering an incentive program, 'Pool Rewards, if you start or join a new carpool. Learn more
