Fairfax County continues strengthening its position as an economic powerhouse with the launch of the Council for Economic Opportunity (CEO), aimed at driving innovation and growth.  This new advisory body, comprised of market and technology leaders, economic development partners, and government officials convened for its inaugural meeting September 17 to chart a path for sustainable growth and prosperity. “The Council for Economic Opportunity will play a critical role in helping Fairfax County maintain its economic vitality,” said Jeffrey C. McKay, Fairfax County Board Chairman. “By bringing together the brightest minds in business, government, and academia, we can develop innovative strategies to support long-term, sustainable growth.” Moving forward the CEO will: Inform strategic local action: Inform cross-cutting initiatives to foster a thriving business environment and a competitive economy. Provide expert insights: Offer valuable business intelligence and industry trends to inform decision-making, programs and policies. Foster active collaboration: Serve as a platform for dialogue and idea exchange among business leaders, government officials, and educators. "The Council for Economic Opportunity will be a valuable asset to Fairfax County. By providing expert advice and guidance, the CEO will help us create a more vibrant and prosperous community for everyone," noted Supervisor Dan Storck, the CEO Chair. At the inaugural meeting, the CEO delved into the most significant themes for the local economy and business community including economic diversification, commercial real estate, workforce and talent, affordability, and place development. These discussions laid the groundwork for future initiatives and collaborations. The CEO is supported by the Fairfax County Department of Economic Initiatives (DEI). Membership includes representatives from the Board of Supervisors, leading businesses, and key community and economic development organizations. For a complete list of meeting participants please see the CEO Meeting Agenda.on the Fairfax County website. After a dynamic first meeting, the Council for Economic Opportunity is set to become a key driver of Fairfax County’s economic success. The synergy generated during this initial gathering laid the foundation for future impactful collaboration.
